Vaughan's two passions in life are yachting and motorcycles. You can usually find Vaughan at the club, working on a boat or some part of the building. Vaughan learned to sail here at CYC in 2010 and now crews on a Young 88 keelboat in Lyttelton, and has completed several coastal passages.
Luke Riedinger
Head Coach
Luke is a highly skilled coach, who has been developing his coaching skills alongside his yachting for the last 9 years. Luke learned to sail here at CYC in 2010. Since then he has sailed Optimists and Starlings. When he gets the chance, he's out racing in either his Laser, Hartley 16 trailer yacht or on a Young 88 keelboat
Thomas Bennett
Learn to Sail Coach
Thomas is an experienced Learn to Sail coach who has been working with our Learn to Sail groups for the last 8 years. Not only is he a good yachtsman, but also, he's pretty good in a blokart. Tom is also responsible for most of the clubs photos, including almost all the ones used on this website.

Juniors Coach
Another member of the England family, Simon is very fast in his Laser, and takes great pride in teaching specific racing and boat handling skills to the junior sailors in his coaching sessions.
Bret de Thier
Regatta Coach
Bret has a long, and successful racing career, representing New Zealand at many levels, including the Olympics.
At CYC, Bret works with our racing juniors to get them performing at the top of their fleets.
Arthur Mahon
Learn to Sail Coach
Arthur cut his sailing teeth sailing Firebugs out of Pleasant Point Yacht Club. Arthur has been working with us teaching Learn to Sail and working with our juniors for the last couple of seasons, and is constantly developing as a coach
